Matt Alder [00:00:17]:
Hi everyone, this is Matt Alder. Welcome to the first Recruiting Future Roundup of 2021. For those of you who’ve not listened to a Roundup episode before, it’s a short review of my most recently published episodes to make sure you don’t miss out on the amazing insights that my guests share. First and foremost, a Happy New Year to everyone. It’s actually been three weeks since I published my last episode, which is a very long break for me. I had intended to get a 2020 roundup episode out just after Christmas, but I was absolutely exhausted after publishing nearly a episodes of the podcast over the course of last year, and I also had to have some minor surgery on my leg, so I gave myself some time off to recover and recuperate. Now I’m back and I’m looking forward to introducing you to more amazing guests, sharing their experiences and advice to help us navigate what’s already proving to be a challenging year. But also, I very much hope, a year that contains the light at the very long tunnel we’ve all been traveling through. I want to take this opportunity to say thanks to all of you for supporting the show over the last 12 months and allowing me to have the privilege of creating it for you. The audience grew by 70% last year, so thanks to everyone who recommended it to friends and colleagues. And thanks of course, to the superb continuing support from all of my sponsors so onwards into 2021. I’ve already got some great interviews recorded and I can’t wait to share them with you, but it’s also really important to understand the topics that you want to listen to on the show. The mission of the Recruiting Future Podcast is to be insightful, inspiring, and most of all, inclusive, so I really want to hear your thoughts about future content. With that in mind, I’ve created an audience survey which you can find at bit ly talktomatt 2021. That’s bit ly talktomat 2021 and that’s all in lowercase. Please take some time to fill it in. I would really appreciate it and it will help me make the show better. At this time last year, I was just about to announce live Recruiting Future Podcast events in three US and three European cities. Obviously they never happened and aren’t likely to anytime soon. Unfortunately. However, I do have some exciting plans for this year and I’m looking at different ways of bringing you more value from Recruiting future via Content and Community. More details on that in the coming weeks and months. In the meantime, I’m looking to continue to build the main social media presence of the podcast on Instagram, so please come and follow us there. Just search for Recruiting Future as this is a roundup episode, it would be remiss of me not to highlight some of my recent interviews that are definitely worth checking out if you missed them. There have been so many exceptional guests in the last few months, it’s difficult to make a choice, but here are two interviews that really stand out for me and are very relevant as we move forward into 2021. First of all, in episode 321 I spoke to serial entrepreneur Jeff Wald. Jeff has recently published a brilliant book on the future of work, which, unlike many books on this topic, is based on historical analysis and robust data. We talked about technology, automation, the future of jobs, remote work versus flexible work, and Jeff shared his thoughts on what talent acquisition leaders need need to be doing right now to prepare for the future. I have to say this is one of my favorite ever conversations on the future of work and it really is a must listen. Secondly, I want to highlight episode 324 which went live a couple of days before Christmas. My guest was the brilliant Nick Thompson from IBM who I always loved talking to about recruitment marketing. This time was no exception and we covered a huge amount of ground, tapping into Nick’s experience and expertise in making recruitment marketing better. Recruitment marketing is going to change a lot in 2021, so if you want to get ahead of the curve, then definitely have a listen to our conversation. That’s it for now. I’ll be back with a brand new episode in a couple of days time. Please get in touch if you want to recommend a guest, give me some feedback on the show or become one of my amazing sponsors. You can find me on LinkedIn or my email is mattashift.comco.uk and also don’t forget the survey bit ly Talktomat 2021. Thanks very much for listening and here’s to a safe and successful year for everyone.
