If you’ve seen me presenting at all during the last 18 months you’ll know that I’m convinced the future of recruitment lies in technology unlocking the power of people’s social graphs to turbo charge referral recruiting. When it finally happens it’ll be absolutely revolutionary in our sector. There are considerable privacy and technological hurdles still to negotiate before it becomes a reality but Google’s latest social search initiative is going to bring it a lot closer. Watch the video to learn more…….exciting times!

Thanks for sharing this Matt. What with the i-pad and now Google’s social search, our world really is changing. Exciting stuff (and in some ways a little scary!)
I only hope that we remember how valuable real human interaction is.

To me the whole point of all of this is that is makes human interaction in the recruitment process even more valuable by making it more efficient

I remember you presenting about this sort of thing quite a while ago. I agree and think it could open up some fascinating referral opportunities.
It will be interesting to see how this develops and as you say this is just the start.
I hope the business is going well and I’m sure you will have a great 2010.

It makes the mind boggle with where this could all take the simple search and connect process! Jobs really will find people rather than the other way around. We’ll all be redundant in just a few months

This is great and with the other applications that Google and iGoogle offer it is possible to only recruit via Google.
HOWEVER we will always have to find a way to put a Square peg in a round hole and then make the deal for salaries and bonuses.
Search is easier and easier and Selection just keeps getting harder!

Matt,
I’ve just “found” your blog and subscribed. Whilst I was at the first TruLondon I unfortunately missed your session (wrong pop wrong time).
I’m also a firm believer that unlocking people’s socialgraphs is going to be a key into better, quicker, less costly recruitment in the future. My view is that the last thing the world needs is another social networking website, rather it probably does need some better tools to help people to unlock, use and maybe monetise, or maybe just help contacts / gain kudos from all of their newfound knowledge gained conventional and digital engagement.
I put my 2p worth into an event yesterday which was part of the London Social Media week – a “pecha kucha” presentation (strict rules 20 slides of 20 seconds each). If you are interested here is the link:

Yes, the future of recruitment will definitely be changing dramatically with social media. Will be interesting to see what tools develop, thanks for the link to the video.
